Christopher Carvey has extensive experience working for a range of companies varying from ambitious start-ups to blue chip corporations. Since graduating from the High School of Art and Design in 1991, he has immersed himself in the professional design world, first at a fashion company then at Scholastic, while studying full-time at the School of Visual Arts.
A veteran of the Internet industry, he landed his first new media job at Creating Media, Inc. in the mid-1990′s where he enhanced identity systems and created new graphic concepts for their Website. He also executed sites for clients such as AT&T (UK) and Mitsui USA. In addition, he refreshed the U.I., graphics, and animations of the company’s innovative Web presence during the second iteration- helping produce one of the earliest Websites to experiment with dynamic JavaScript-based navigation and content.
In 1998, Christopher moved to FOXsports.com/News Digital Media, where he served as a Web designer when the company made its first ambitious push into the online world. While there, he oversaw several redesigns and U.I. enhancements, established styles, interface components and associated assets. Additionally, he developed advertisements and special sponsored features for the site. The design team’s work was sited for excellence several times by the Sports Business Journal.
When News Digital shifted their online operations to Los Angeles in 2000, Christopher chose to stay in the city he loves and was promptly picked up by Major League Baseball Advanced Media, where he currently works as Senior Visual Designer. What started out as a bare-bones, one person design department in December 2000 blossomed into a fully-functioning and forward-looking design team, a transition Christopher helped facilitate through his creative work and by assisting in the hiring of staff members. He has been involved in major redesigns of the MLB.com U.I., and extensive branding campaigns. In addition, he has worked in numerous strategic partnership deals including LL Cool J, XBOX, and iTunes. He also contributed to satellite sites for Major League Soccer and DerekJeter.com.
Christopher has also served as a consultant Creative Director at Generation X Technologies, a company focused on bringing top-flight Website design services to community organizations and minority small businesses. In that spirit, he continues to engage in small personal homework projects to keep his skills sharp and expand his knowledge of Web development, content management systems, blogging, social media, monetizing Web traffic, SEO, and building brands online.
Christopher Carvey is a proud husband and father, an avid sports fan, and a grateful New Yorker. Chris is a big proponent of continued education and enjoys keeping up with the digital world, most recently from New York University. He hopes to one day share the fruits of his varied experiences by teaching at the University level and collaborating with creative arts mentoring programs in N.Y.C. area.
